(KJV) 2 Timothy 2:14 Of these things put [them] in remembrance, charging [them] before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, [but] to the subverting of the hearers.

(KJV) 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

(KJV) 2 Timothy 2:16 But shun profane [and] vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Jesus responds to bad scripture interpretation and usage with good and proper usage:

(KJV) Psalms 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
    -->.  (KJV) Matthew 4:6
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

(KJV) Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

    (KJV) Luke 4:11
And in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. .

(KJV) Luke 4:12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

(KJV) Luke 4:13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

(KJV) Luke 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
    --------
    (KJV) Isaiah 29:13
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

    (KJV) Hebrews 9:19
For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
    ------------
(KJV) Isaiah 28:10 For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little:

(KJV) Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

(KJV) Isaiah 28:12 To whom he said, This [is] the rest [wherewith] ye may cause the weary to rest; and this [is] the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

(KJV) Isaiah 28:13 But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

The scriptures themselves tell us how they must be understood & interpreted.
